BIO Facial - Platelet Rich Plasma

The BIO Facial can be beneficial to people who have wrinkles, sun damage, or scars. By placing PRP back into the skin, cell proliferation is encouraged.

BIO Facial - Platelet Rich Plasma

BIO Facial is used to stimulate collagen and elastin production to improve skin tone, texture, and treat wrinkles, scars and hyperpigmentation. The BIO Facial is obtained from drawing blood from the patient and then spinning it down in centrifuge that separates the red blood cells (RBC’s) from the plasma which contains the platelets which contain growth factors. The plasma is then spread on the face and microneedled into the skin. The plasma, rich in platelets and growth factors, can then also be injected into the skin as a dermal filler approaching the treatment area from beneath the skin and on top of it for enhanced results.

The full effect of the facial can take a few weeks to months. The BIO Facial is stimulating cell turnover and regeneration which takes time. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle for optimal results.

There is a short downtime associated with a BIO Facial. You will leave the office with a “sunburned” appearance to your skin. Some people may experience some bruising and swelling as well as this procedure does promote an inflammatory reaction. You will want to avoid direct sunlight for 48 hours post the procedure and some may experience some flaking or peeling of the skin 3 to 5 days after the procedure.

Yes! You will want to avoid any medications that are anti-inflammatory such as medications like ibuprofen, advil, motrin (NSAID’S) or aspirin for one week prior to the procedure. Always check with your physician to see if you can stop these medications. As well as supplements like curcumin, fish oil and ginger as these tend to reduce inflammation and thin the blood as well. It is important to eat a healthy diet, hydrate, and get good rest for optimal results. IF you have a history of cold sores it is also important to notify the office prior to the procedure for pre-treatment.
